i was thinking of trying something new this time for my friends who just can’t get into my homebrew. They really like hard cider and i have done a TON of reading on here in order to get started. My only question is, is it okay to ferment a hard cider in a plastic carboy? Everywhere i have read seems to say glass, but all my homebrew is in plastic; and quite frankly its alot easier to move around. thanks for the input.
I ferment everything in plastic buckets, cider included. Glass carboys are expensive, heavy, fragile and downright dangerous if you slip while handling one. The only time I now use carboys is for long term bulk aging of wines or beers, and even for those I use PET plastic. Works great.
