If you shove a stopper in a carboy again her is what I read somewhere. Get a rag and wet it then drop it in the top and hold onto it. Next shake the carboy around until it lands on the rag. Tip the carboy and give the rag a quick yank. With luck and a little practice you might be able to pull the stopper out.
By some miracle I have never had to try it.
