Carared/CaraAmber vs Crystal 40-60

What are the flavor differences between carared and cara amber vs their crystal lovibond equivalents? Thinking about german crystal instead of US crystal for a Rye Pale ale since I am switching to Norhtern Brewer and Crystal for hops.

I don’t consider carared as a crystal malt. To me it seems much more fermentable than the average crystal malt.
