I love the Captain Crush Grain Mill! I don’t have a lot of room to give to brewing so this mill really fits well! It was just lacking the motor option. This is what I came up with. I am using a 18V DC gearmotor with 189 in lbs of torque and 123 RPM. The motor base it held to the grain mill with wood clamps. I made the setup to come apart and store separately. It works great! Check it out.
Well, lets just say I give you a lot of credit for your use of technology. That’s quite a setup. And so, since this is a hobby, I think that the goal is to make stuff that is fun to make. So kudos to you for doing the project. I just had to laugh though because my LHBS just connects a cordless drill to the mill and it works rather well. But you get all the points for creativity and artistic style.
I have my crush motorized as well.
Nice work boys. I want to do something similar soon. I get tired of holding the drill in place and would rather be able to multitask on brew day while the grain is being crushed.
