Can I freeze fresh picked hops without drying?

I’m in a bit of a pinch–some of my Cascade hops look ready to pick, but I have to go away for a few days. Can I pick them, put them in a ziplock bag, push the air out and freeze them? Or do I absolutely have to dry them?

Also, how long can ripe hops stay on the bine? Can I leave them for 4 or 5 days?

I really appreciate your help!

I’d leave them hang unless they are turning brown. I’ve heard you don’t want to freeze them without first drying.

Hi Lenny, thanks for your advice—I really appreciate it!

I like to put them in a zip lock bag, open, and leave them on the rear window deck. Have not been pulled over yet.

They don’t want to waste their time, they probably think you have a card
