Just stumbled upon Brewgr; a fantastic and free web application for recipe design.
www.brewgr.comThe lack of being able to do anything other than 0.25oz addition of hops really bothers me. I do 5/8ths 3/8ths and so on a ton.
and the same with the grain. I just wrote a recipe with 1.5oz black malt for color and I have no way of entering that in on the program.
And my biggest complaint. not being able to type your search. The drop box was kinda a pain.

Yeah, it’s still a very new application. The developers will undoubtedly add and refine functionality as the app matures. But what it lacks in functionality it makes up for in usability.
have you used brew calculus by hopville?
For internet apps, I found it much easier to work with…

nice. I just find it much easier. Plus the search feature alone makes it more user friendly to me.
Hope it works for you.
+1 on beercalculus/hopville. I really like that it stores my recipes too, just wish they had an Android app. I’ve recently been using “BrewR” on my phone though, and slowly converting my recipes to it from Hopville. I really like the recipe scale feature on BrewR.
As one of the developers for brewgr.com, it’s good to hear the stuff that people like and the stuff that people are finding difficult about our homebrew software.
To the points raised about the unit increments and ingredient searching, we hear you. Those two items in particular are already on our hot list and planned to be released later this year (as well as other great stuff).
We are actively adding and releasing new features, many of which were suggested by homebrewers that are using our site.
So, if you try us out and you find something that doesn’t make sense or work optimally, tell us about it so we can fix the problem or add the feature. Once we’ve made the changes we’ll send you an email so you know it’s ready.
One other thing to note is that Brewgr is free and will always be free. We don’t limit the amount of recipes you can save and we’re planning a companion mobile app. There’s a lot we have planned, but some weekends have to be spent brewing beer (instead of writing software), so bear with us as we move forward.
Happy Brewing!
you can also try brewmate its also a free recipe download and its very flexible.

Thanks for chiming in. I’m looking forward to seeing how you guys grow the app. In the meantime, I’m really enjoying what you’ve done so far. Thanks
+1 on BrewR on Android. I also like how it saves to your google account so if something happens to your phone (maybe drop it in your wort  ) you can get all your recipes back. Cheers
Thanks for sharing the link…I don’t currently use a brewing software, so a free app may prove handy!
