I moved my bourbon barrel porter into the secondary fermentor today and took a gravity reading of 1.020. It smelled fine and tasted as porter should but in my impetous, I soaked the oak chips too soon. I thought I was supposed to add them upon transfer to secondary fermentor…
Leave them in the bourbon, they’ll be fine. The last time I did this I didn’t know for sure when I’d get to brew so I left them in the bourbon until I needed them. It turned out good.
