Bourbon Barrel Porter extract kit

The instructions in my extract kit say when I get to the step of adding my oak to the beer that I should boil the oak in water then add it and the water to the beer before bottling. What if, instead, I soak the oak in the same volume of good bourbon for a couple days then add it instead of boiling the oak in water? will the added alcohol from the bourbon mess up the carbonation via priming?

Are you using the NB kit? That is, in fact, what the kit instructions say to do.

“Soak 2 oz of US Medium Plus Oak Cubes in 16 oz of bourbon for 24 - 48 hours. Then add the oak cubes and bourbon to the secondary fermenter and wait an additional 1 - 2 weeks before bottling.”
