Black Lager

I have tryed a few black lagers over the past few weeks and was wondering if it’s as simple
as just using a lager yeast with say an Irish Stout and brewing it at lager temps?

Black Lagers are usually much less bitter than stouts
Ive got a recipe using some Briess Midnight Wheat which isnt nearly as bitter as roasted barley
ive heard the difference explained as “less black coffee flavor more dark chocolate” if that helps at all
