I brewed a batch of the black IPA and loved it. I reordered but I’m thinking I I would like to add some chocolate and coffee flavors. Any suggestions as to how I would go about that?
You could steep a little chocolate malt the next time you brew it. You might want to use a light hand. If you use too much you will really throw a Black IPA outta whack.
well it was pretty good the way it was. Maybe I should just leave it alone.
Chocolate might be ok, but coffee is a bitter additive that can be problematic by even the best commercial brewers. The only beer Larry Bell ever made that I hated (as in despised) was their Bell’s Java stout. Tastes are subjective but coffee in an IPA…
Oh, I don’t know…it’s no odder than the very idea of an IPA being black…
try some fawcett pale chocolate. i made a recipe i came up with and used it and it was just what you might like. i used 6 oz. but would recommend 4 oz.
I think that is Bells only offering I’m not a fan of.
