Beer Box?

So I was just visiting the AHA website, and saw a banner ad for The Beer Box
http://www.brewingtools.com

They are 2.75 gal plastic “kegs”?

They look simple enough, and seem like they would be great for parties.

I’m intrigued, but at $200 a pair they seem overpriced by a lot.

Cleaning and sanitation is the Achilles heal. :?

The idea is alluring. The price, not so much. Grizz talker did a good job of seeing through the hype - cleaning would be a PITA or an exercise in crossing your fingers. They look like reworked coffee thermoses. That got me thinking . . . carbonated iced coffee anyone?

I agree, They claim “easy to clean,” but I imagine it’s “fill with PBW, and hope for the best.”

in web searches, I found this.

4 gallon, water container for $16. The 4" opening would make it much easier to clean. I’m sure you could replace the vent with a CO2 fitting and be way cheaper than the Beer Box.

My concern is not about cleaning them it’s the # of cartages your will use carbonating it. Just keep your eyes out for a 2.5 or 3 gallon keg. I was lucky and found two 3 gallon kegs for $15 ea from a lady whose husband had passed and she was selling all his brewing stuff.

I think an experiment is in order, just wish I had the time to do it. Not as durable or permanent as a corny, but if it holds pressure that’d be a VERY attractive alternative. Imagine a large camping cooler filled with these, topped with a tower for a portable kegerator. Camping would never be the same…

That’s easy. none.

And that’s the other problem, you can’t use it for Force Carbing, you still have to prime and wait.
