I’m building a brew sculpture and i need to buy some march pumps. Has anyone found a source that doesn’t require an arm and a leg? $145 may be ok when buying one, but once you start buying more than one it adds up quickly.
While i have your attention, is there a big difference between the 809 and the 815 in regards to performance?

While i have your attention, is there a big difference between the 809 and the 815 in regards to performance?
I bought mine many years ago on ebay for $80 new but that guy doesn’t sell them anymore.
Below is a performance curve I overlayed with the performance of the 815 pump. I recently swapped impellers so I could get the necessary head increase to pump through two CFC’s in series. It works very well.
Are the little giant pumps food grade at high temps? I guessing not.

MD-HC Series Model 2-MD-HC

(230V version has no plug).
Little Giant 2-MD-HC 1/30 HP, 510 GPH @ 1’ - Magnetic Drive Pump, 6’ Power Cord (580603) Features:
• Specific Gravity - up to 1.1’
• Ambient Air Temperature - up to 77F (25C)
• Fluid Temperature Up to 200F
I’m guessing they are, there’s nothing magical about March pumps
• Fluid Temperature Up to 200F
I don’t know why it’s only rated to 200° PPS is used as a nonstick coating on cookware and Viton is rated to 400°. My guess is that’s a continuous duty rating.

Been seeing the chugger pumps, anyone got any experience with them?
They are about identical to the March offering in all specs, and parts are interchangeable as I’ve experienced. I have a Chugger stainless head on my wort pump and it worked well.
I found that when changing out the impeller on my March 809HS to the 815 impeller that the 815 impeller fits right into the Chugger, and is a fraction larger than the one that came with it. Now both pumps have March 815 impellers and work much better than before.
I’ll definitely buy the Chugger stainless head when it’s time for a new one.
I picked up a chugger pump with a stainless head and about 6 months ago and have been happy with it. Not much you can say about a pump but it works well for me.
