American heff in primary too long

I brewed an american heff with a abv of about 4.9. Unfortunately after about 2 weks in primary, we had to move. Long story short, i was too busy to keg it till now. So it spent 6 weeks in primary. Smelled ok and tastes fine but there was a white bubbly film on top. Didnt look like mold but it didnt look normal ether. Think it’s ok? I cant sem to get the pic to load. Ill try again in a bit.

It’s probably ok, especially if it tastes good. If I recall, some hefe yeasts are sort of powdery (low flocculation), so you might just be seeing a film of yeast on top.

Six weeks on the yeast cake shouldn’t be an issue. It’s probably little yeast rafts you’re seeing. FWIW, I’ve left a stout on the cake for 4+months and it was fine (forgot it was in the far corner of the basement  )

This is what I thought also. Perhaps the yeast got kicked up a little during your move. I
ll bet it will be tasty!

Great. Thanks.
