I am going to move onto my second batch, and I went with the cascade imperial ipa. I have boiled water in my 8 gallon aluminum pot for an hour or so already, so it is black and oxidized already. I recently looked inside and the bottom now looks like a goldish coppery color. Is this bad? will it hurt the flavor of the beer?

Actually, that’s exactly what you want. It’/s an oxidation layer that prevents the AL from getting into your beer. Don’t scrub it off! If you do, just boil some water in the pot to repassivate it.
