Just brewed a golden wheat and it is in the primary (been about 3 days). Wanted to add lemon to it and was thinking that the zest from one lemon when I transfer it to the secondary would do the trick. Any tips would be much appreciated.
I have done 4oz lemon zest at 5 minutes left in the boil for a lemon ginger hef, I’d think you would want to do a few lemons to get a noticeable flavor from it.
Edit:This was a 10gallon batch
I used home made lemon extract to add lemon flavor to the latest batch of lemon-rosemary blonde I brewed.
After numerous fruit beer experimentations (and I hate saying this) I’ve found that you can achieve exactly what you want by simply having the fruit on hand while you’re drinking the beer. Just squeeze the lemon, bite the pineapple, add some raspberry juice, and you’re where you want to be like people in this forum have time and again suggested.
That being said, if you’re going to be like me and defy them, then yes, you should probably zest more than a one lemon. Two should be fine, but it’s entirely up to you how intense you want the flavor.

I was thinking the zest of 2 lemons in the secondary for two weeks will do the trick. It is for a 5 gallon batch. I will try this and see what happens, only downside is I need it for a party a couple weeks after it will be ready.
