$40-$50 range brewing item

I need help with ideas in the $40-$50 range for an brewing item for my upcoming birthday. Girlfriend said she has gotten me some things, but needs one more item.

And I am going blank.

Was looking at a Refractometer but that looks to be $60.

got any good ideas?

Plenty of places sell refractometers for $30-$40

A few other ideas…
*Another flask with stirbar or a big 5000ml flask
*Not really beer, but good with beer- A cheese making starter kit
*Some sour brewing equipment

thanks for the link. I really like the 5000ml flask idea as well.

I currently only have an 1000ml and 2000ml. Neither are great when I want to grow lager yeast.

Ebay has refractometers for less.

I would skip the flask. Get some wine in a large jug instead or the empty 1g jugs NB sells.

If you have what you need for hardware, how about some ingredients?

I have never had any luck with 1g jugs on my stir plate.

I am good on ingredients short of yeast.

Gift Card! Use it on one $50 thing or to make one larger purchase seem more manageable.

Can’t ever have enough carboys, a Better Bottle and stopper would be on the low side of that price range.

+1 to anything mentioned above

Or,
Oxygenation Setup - O2 or Standard Air Pump
SS Mash Paddle
PH Meter

A gift card was mentioned, part of it could be put towards keeping the sanitary level shipshape:

  • replacing all the tubing in your system (brewing or keg) or at least have things on hand for those emergencies, siphon tubing, etc…
    -new primary(s)

what a gal! hopefully she keeps you.

the tubing is actually a great idea. I am currently running three taps. But have room for four or five. I think I would like to set it up to be able to carb a lagering keg while three on tap.

currently I just have it lagering.

So I would just need a splitter and some tubing and connector.

+whatever to a refractometer or pH meter. Or both if you’re willing to throw in another $10-$15.

How is your brew kettle? A very nice 10 gallon Heavy duty aluminum pot from waresdirect $45

A kit or two wouldnt be bad.
