Last year I planted rhizomes and got enough hops to use in 15 gallons of beer. This year the crowns have sprouted and are about 8" above ground now. The common idea is to cut off all but the best 3-4 sprouts. My crowns have 20-30 sprouts each. This seems like a lot to cut back. Should I really cut back to 3-4 shoots?
