10 oz. of Willamette

My non-brewing friend gave me 10 oz. of whole hops that are supposedly Willamette. A previous owner planted them on the property a few years ago.

I don’t think I should use them for bittering. Do you have any suggestions on how I should use them? I was thinking of making a low gravity brown ale, and subbing the Willamette for Fuggle as an aroma late addition. I’m interested in your thoughts.

Sounds like a plan to me. I grow Willamettes, and used them exclusively a couple years ago in a pale ale. It was ok, but the bittering is really a guess. Overall, I wasn’t too crazy about the all-Willamette brew.

It does go well with other C-hops though. Supposed to make them “pop”. If you do a search, you’ll find a few recent threads with quite a bit of info on how to use them. Good luck!
