Rolling Igloo Draft Box Question

by Lucky2BAlive » Thu Nov 05, 2009 6:42 pm

A question for those of you that have made the rolling kegerator out of the 70 quart Igloo Ice Cube.

What size shanks did you use? It looks like I've got 1.5 inches of ice chest walls to deal with so will a 2" shank be long enough?

Where did you buy your shanks. Where did you buy the elbow nipple?

Thanks!

I used 3" shanks on mine, still plenty of room to fit the keg past if you bias them to one side. It barely sticks through an inch, so I think 2" would be too close with the coupling nut and faucet coupler. I'll see if I can come up with a pic this weekend. Also I didn't use an elbow nipple, a straight one has plenty of room to connect in that cooler.

Thanks nyak! I'll order the 3" shanks with the straight nipple assembly. I can't wait to have this thing ready for Christmas and New Years parties.

I build a foot tall two tap tower out of PVC and bolted it to the top of my cooler, makes serving easier.
