Spent last evening kicked back enjoying beer and BBQ on the deck. Good times.
Still have to get the landscaping done, but so nice to get to enjoy it already.

Re: The summer deck project.

Finally got the lighting and beds put in around my deck. May have taken almost a year to complete, but the lighting is a nice addition.

Nice. Now you need to consider some type of roof for shade: project 2012.

Thanks.
No covering in the plans since my whole deck is completely in shade by 5PM. Its hard to see in the pic since they are covered, but my patio set has a very large umbrella that works great as well.

Re: The summer deck project.

Glad you posted to this old thread. Nice deck man. I like how you matched the angles of the bump out on the house. I did the same thing on my front porch when I built the house, only it's a lot smaller in sq ft than your back deck. Enjoy a brew for me out there before it gets too hot in that Missoura (yes that's an 'a') sun!

I would however do away with that middle rail and use the posts that are there to frame up a high treated bar top. Throw some stools in there and you're enjoying beer at a bar overlooking your yard. It could also double as a shooting station ;)

Thanks.
I agree about the railing. The my original plans had built in planters and benches instead but the wife really wanted railing. As you can see plans were changed to keep the peace.
