What's Up with NB Shipping?

Other than a few things from my LHBS and an order or two from another website NB has been my website of choice since I started brewing a couple of years ago. It used to be that you could place an order in the moring and it would ship that day but the last two orders I have placed have been slow to ship. I placed an order on Monday which I hoped would ship on Monday but figured if it didn't it would ship on Tuesday...it didn't, hopefully it will ship today. Anyone else notice shipping is getting slower?

Re: What's Up with NB Shipping?

I put an order in Monday night late and it shipped yesterday, I always go with 2 day ground (it's only a couple bucks more). I've been happy with NB.

Maybe they are or were out of something in your order, have you asked them why it hasn't shipped?

I noticed alright. Took them 5 days to send my last order, then another 5 days for it to arrive.

Best plan ahead, the good old days of a fast responding NB are apparently over.

I have always been happy too. Can't beat shipping and it's not like they are an operation like amazon.com. I am really surprised they do such a good job with all my orders. THey have a 100% sucess rate with me. But, your prolly in hurry and things always seem like they take longer when in hurry. I know that for a fact as impatient as I am.

I used to get stuff the next day too, but now I think that the switch to 7.99 shipping has something to do with it. I've started picking different shipping options instead of the the 7.99 shipping and yes it costs more, but you do get it the next day.

FedEx.

When they used to ship UPS, I would get my orders the next business day if I ordered before noon. Now it's 4 or 5 days and I only live 6 hours from the Twin Cities.

Funny to see this thread. I just received my NB order a day earlier than FedEx estimated. I live in the Northeast and ordered last Friday night using the Brewsaver option.

Re: What's Up with NB Shipping?

I've noticed my last couple orders have been slower, too--and I'm 3 hours away. I love NB, and order from them alot----but they've GOT to do something about gift certificate orders!!

I made an order online with a gift card, and it still asks for credit card info. You're supposed to add the certificate number in the "Notes" section on the bottom. I did that and didn't hear from them for 3 days. Found out today they charged the card and ignored the gift certificate. $100!

After a phone they fixed it, and were really apologetic, but its still frustrating. You can add discount codes in a special slot--why can't they do the same with gift certificates!!

Next time I get a gift certificate I guess I'll order by phone.

Re: What's Up with NB Shipping?

I ordered from NB yesterday for the first time. Figured I'd give their kits a try since I take part in their forum.
Will I get an email from them or tracking info when it ships out, or do I have to keep going back into the order to check?

Yup, back when it was FREE shipping, they got it out next day.

Perhaps the customer service starts to lag, when you get bigger and open new stores, and get bigger and...

But hey, now I know, and will start to plan ahead better.
FWIW, they always get my order right, and their packaging is simply the best!

Re: What's Up with NB Shipping?

I'll have to chime in with a positive for NB. My last order arrived pretty speedy as have all of them in years past, and as the above poster said, they have always got my order correct.

Re: What's Up with NB Shipping?

usually they are faster than a pensioner on viagra, however this last one sat until i emailed a light hearted query, then it got here in two days..........honestly, there could be some kinda reason, but ultimately, who cares?

NB seems to have a very proficient shipping department; i can give them some slack....for now.

cheers,
darth

Re: What's Up with NB Shipping?

Seems pretty straightforward to me:

Northern Brewer offers a variety of options for shipping your order, from very economical to very fast: (Louie's note to the slow: you're choosing economical, not fast, when you choose 7.99 brewsaver shipping)

BrewSaver Ground. Ships at flat-rate fee of just $7.99; in-stock orders ship in 1 to 4 business days; delivery in 1 to 5 business days depending on zone (another note - expect anywhere from 2-9 days from order to delivery). Packages are delivered Tuesday-Saturday, between 9 AM and 8 PM

As far as I'm concerned, they're more clear about shipping than just about any other internet order I've ever placed. Take them at their word, and be pleasantly surprised when your order arrives in less than 9 days.
Fermenting: Patersbier, Octoberfest
Kegged/Serving: Helles, Dead Ringer, Dry Stout
On Deck: Waldo Lake Amber, lots more Helles
