Yep, all grain. I brewed three batches that weekend. You know, start the new year right.

2 batches in one day isn't to bad on the weekend day. I find brewing a single batch after work on a week night to be much more work, due to the time constraints.

Re: What all have you brewed so far this year?

Mostly 5 gallons and all grain.

1. Patersbier
2. Honey Weizen
3. Imperial Pils (My Antonia Clone) 3 gallons
4. Crimson Clover - Irish Red
5. Cascadian Dark Ale - BIPA
6. American Amber Ale
7. Hawaiian LuALE - Pineapple, papaya, coconut, smoked malt.
8. Nikko's Wobbly Wine - Barleywine - 3 gallons
9. Orange Cascade Pale Ale
10. Belgian Witbier
11. Hopfenweizen - hopped up wheat
12. Hopsession - session strength pale ale
13. Biere de Garde
14. The Bitter Belgian - Belgian IPA
15. American Citrus Wheat
16. Dusseldorf Altbier
17. Belgian Dubbel (brewing this weekend)

My son, Nicholas was born just before #8 (hence the name, I call him Nikko and he's quite wobbly) so I'm actually shocked to see I've been able to get this many beers in since his birth. But things have been slowing down. I expect to get somewhere around 25 brews in this year. Far more than I had thought considering the new addition to the family and how much time he steals from the rest of my life. Which is just fine by me!

Re: What all have you brewed so far this year?

Some of the batches were done for a friend and several of the 10 gallon batches were split between us. Just used generic names rather than the arbitrary name I often give them but only a batch or two were repeats of the same recipes, several were fairly close but I was playing with subtle changes to grain bill, hops and/or yeast.

1/21 - Nut Brown - 10 gal
1/27 - American Brown - 5 gal
1/27 - American Pale 10 gal
2/20 - American Amber - 5 gal
2/20 - American Brown - 5 gal
3/2 - Americanized Bitter 10 gal
3/2 - Nut Brown - 5 gal
3/17 - Citra Blonde - 5 gal
3/17 - Oatmeal Stout - 5 gal
3/31 - Citra Pale - 5 gal
3/31 - Dark Mild - 5 gal
4/21 - American Pale - 5 gal
5/11 - Dark Mild - 5 gal
5/12 - American IPA - 5 gal
5/25 - Summer Amber - 10 gal
5/25 - American Pale - 10 gal

Our brewing tastes are eerily similar. A lot of our brews are the same and the ones not on my list (ESB, Rye IPA, etc) I brewed near the end of last year. Great minds think alike.

My brew(girl) friend and I like to keep Innkeeper on hand and sometimes it goes too fast. I think we're going to start a rotation of light session beers that include the innkeeper, farmhouse BDT, and honey kolsch.

When are you making the jump? You don't find extract a little boring?

Re: What all have you brewed so far this year?

1) Otter Creek Copper Ale Clone
2) Session Pale Ale (take 1)
3) Dunkelweizen/Vanilla Dunkelweizen
4) Simcoe/Amarillo/Citra/Chinook IPA
5) Session Pale Ale (take 2)
6) Hefeweizen/Blackberry Weizen
7) Blackberry-Lemon Melomel

I'm pretty happy that I've been able to keep to a 1 brew a month average. I'm even happier that most of them have been recipes I've designed myself, and that they've come out pretty decent.

I think I'll be branching out into Belgian territory next. I have a Dubbel, a Tripel and a hoppy, dark Brett-Saison planned, but I haven't decided which will come first. I also want to brew some mini (1-gallon) batches of single-hop Pale Ales with all the hop varieties I have on hand to really nail down the flavor profile of each for future recipe design. And in the fall, I'm thinking an oaked hop-bomb IIPA.

To be honest, I am more into the other aspects of brewing rather than the actual brewing itself; Yeast, ferm temps, and just stepped up to kegging. We've done a partial mash with Ken's HR Red Lager that was fun but if we go full AG, we'd only brew once every 2 weeks. I'm not cool with that :)
