Surfer smell

Doing a white claw hard seltzer for first time. Getting a strong surfer smell after one week in fermenter. Is this normal?

I’m assuming you mean a coconut sunscreen smell

sulfur smell is Common with multiple yeast. Generally nothing to worry about. Will fade.

Thanks!

Well I’ve never made seltzer but wine fermentation smells, cider as well so I’m not surprised

It’s from the yeast having a lack of nutrients, as well as no other ingredients to hide this aroma. I assume you’re adding nutrients?
Bottling or kegging? If it persists you’ll need to bubble CO2 through it to vent off the sulfur.

Added 2 1/2 tsp. To 5 gal. Brew day. It didn’t do much. After a week I have added 1/2 tsp. For the next 3 days and gave it a slight swirl. It has been fermenting steadily since but still has slight sulfur smell. I will be bottling it.
