Life of my grains

I received my grains in the mail. How long until I have to brew? Will the grain start to go bad?

Grains can last indefinitely if stored properly. That means not yet crushed and protected from water, humidity and pests. If the grain gets wet, use it immediately or toss it. If stored open to the air in high humidity, it can still last for a few weeks before it goes stale. If the grain has already been crushed, humidity can get in much faster, and you’ll want to use it within a couple weeks. But that can extend to a couple months if kept in an airtight container.

I’m guessing they are already milled. I’ve had milled grains for 3 to 4 months before using them and the beer was great. Just keep them sealed in the bag and you will be fine.

Thank you. Glad I found this forum. Excited to keep brewing.
