How long can yeast sit in carboy at room temp?

Its covered with a layer of beer…but brewing got put off by a few weeks and i really wanted to reuse the yeast. Is there a point where this yeast would lose its viability?

Depends. Just pour it in some jars and refrigerate

If you can purge the headspace with CO2, you can probably leave it for quite awhile. But you pulled in a huge amount of oxygen that may or may not have wild yeasts and bacteria floating around, and the oxygen in there is going to be great for the growth of some of those microbes, like acetobacter. Like BC said, best to pour it in a jar or two and toss it in the fridge.
