Hard Seltzer

Purchased Hard Seltzer kit. Started brew process on 01/18/20. Followed directions. Has turned a light brown. Smells like it’s fermenting. Is this normal or problematic?

Also constantly having to fill airlock. Is this normal? What could be done to fix this?

Did you cold crash it? The airlock shouldn’t be running dry so frequently. Has the weather drastically changed? This can cause the airlock to suck back. The darkening could be oxidation caused by the suck back from the airlock.
I admit that I don’t know too much about the seltzer.

Overcooking the sugar can make them go brown. I think you really just need to dissolve the sugar at temps high enough to pasteurize. No need to cook them.
