Extra Hops to the Block Party Amber

I really like it as is. Thinking of the next time I make this this of making it hoppier.
It has 1 Oz of Willamette hops. Say upping hops to 2 ounces. Use same hop or another kind?

Willamette is a distinctive hop, earthy and spicy. A hop like Mosaic might balance it well but you need to be aware that your beer might lose its Amber name and roll into an IPA instead. Mosaic has that resinous quality while just tipping into the circus side. IMO if you add something too far apart from Willamette the hops will become mushed together and lose all distinction. Cascade and Centennial always play well with each other as well.
Your Block Party has a single hop addition at 60 mins. You could also play with the 20min, 10 min, and Flame Out additions to make more hop flavor and aroma.

This hop oil calculator is a lot of fun…

There is a link in there showing how hops are related. I need to memorize that

To start…they are a plant in the bine family! :joy:

While there are some other examples of Bines. I am convinced that the word bine is a result of a B/V switch due to betacism and a confused English speaker trying to interact with a German speaker.
“Wow this beer is great what makes it so good?”
German answers with accent “The hops from the vine.”
“Did you say Bine? Great! I’ve got to write that down.”
