Excellent podcast as always!
Drew had me doubting my grasp of nomenclature of west coast IPAs when he insisted on calling Pliny the Elder, “plinny”, as in rhymes with tinny. I’ve drank, brewed, transported, chased, and sought Pliny for over 10 years and never heard it called “plinny”. I’ve had it in Santa Rosa at the brewpub and no one corrected me when I called it Pliny, rhymes with piney.
Vinnie Cilurzo, brewer and owner calls it Pliny. Here:

I’m not a pinhead usually…(or a Karen, lol)…but I thought I was losing my mind. Now maybe he is saying the ancient Romans pronounced his name “plinny”… could be, I wasn’t there.

After seeing your comment, we discussed it a bit. He says that in spite of how Vinnie pronounces it, “plinny” is correct
