Blue Wine--What's That All About?

New Master Vintner Blog up: Blue Wine

Great write up Tim! I agree with you that some things are better left unchanged, especially when it’s done by ‘cheating’ and as a marketing ploy. An issue I see often (over many subjects) is that there’s not enough tradition, causing many problems.

Thanks Loopie.

I don’t think we need to worship tradition, nor do I think that wine never needs to change–it’s changed drastically in the last few decades, and much more over the centuries. But we need to know our history and roots. If you don’t know where you came from, how can you tell how far you’ve come?

Don’t even get me started on kettle-sour gueuze… But I very much agree with your article. This has lost the spirit of what wine should be, when the defining characteristic of your wine comes out of a chemistry lab.

My point was that people overlook tradition for the next big thing. This often causes a bad product which gives us all a bad name. Ever hear anybody totally dismiss “home brew” or “home made wine”. YUCK!
