Best hops for first wort hopping?

Just wondering what your thoughts are on this?
I know noble hops are traditionally used for this but what others? I wanted to use Chinook for FWH my Big Sur DIPA but read elsewhere that it could produce an unpleasant bitterness used for this?
Any others to avoid? Your experiences?

I use magnum or nugget for all my bittering and also FWH but mostly magnum. Ive used chinook at 60min but not my favorite. I do use Chinook for bittering from say 30 minutes in big IPAs

I’ve used American variety such as Amarillo, Citra, and cascade without noticing any unpleasant bitterness. I do admit I’ve never tried it with chinook.

Me magnum. Or citra. Same here never did use chinook

I think we have to see what Voodoo’s tasting notes say…
FWH aren’t suppose to be as strong as a bittering charge… I think DannyBoy was a FWH’er… How long will he be away?

OK so I placed my order with our host, I’m staying away entirely from chinook hops on this version. Using Amarillo, Columbus, and centennial as the only hops.

Thanks for everybody’s help!

Magnum and Columbus here. Think I used Galena once or twice. No problems from any of them that I noticed.

I am going with a half ounce of Columbus for FWH and another half ounce at 60 minutes. I’ll report back on this…
