Just a quick question, anyone here brewed the John palmers Elevenses ?? Thoughts?
yup, it’s quite fine: quick turnaround for a mild-esk beer that has plenty of layers for a little guy. I toasted the oats as recommended and was a bit underwhelmed at the results. Didn’t get the cookie they were touting. My HUMBLE thoughts, double down on the toasted, but as with all recipes I’d recommend going by the playbook the first time, may be just what ya wanted.
More i think about it, this will probably be great in about a month as the leaves change… ok, I’ll brew it again, you convinced me.

I’ve brewed this one twice now, and both times it’s been great. I have it on tap now. This time I toasted the oats just a touch more than I wanted to, and it actually helped I think. The toast comes through more, and helps to balance the slight smoke from the oak-smoked wheat malt. I used WY1469 since that’s my go-to English yeast. As mentioned above, there is a lot going on here in a small beer.
