My winter process is remove all dead plants, compost whatever is disease free, add manure to my soil, till it in, let it sit until spring. I don't plant anything over winter.....late fall and all of winter is homebrew time for me. Spring comes around, I go out and pull anything that is growing, till once more, plant spring crops.....this upcoming year, I am thinking of having my soil tested. My garden is only 3 years old, and I basically took a patch of yard that had grass for 50 years, and dug up the grass, and began planting a garden.....not much for amendments to the soil so far. Last year I added one pickup truck load of aged cow manure.....this growing season, in conjunction with dripline watering, my garden has been unbelievable so far.
